FAQ

What happens at a breastfeeding consultation?

During this visit, the consultant may take the weight of the baby and will observe a nursing session. They will answer any questions or concerns you have and will provide techniques and tips to help address any breastfeeding problems the mother or baby is experiencing. Back to Work Consults are available for mothers returning to work. All visits are 1 hour, except for twins visits which are 2 hours. Additional time is prorated at the hourly rate.

How do I prepare for a breastfeeding consultation?

With a newborn, please limit the amount you feed the baby to one-half a normal feeding amount when your appointment is within 1 hour. The baby will be more willing to feed during the visit. If you are supplementing with breastmilk or formula, please bring extra milk with you if you have a non-latching baby.

If your baby is a newborn and experiencing weight loss or slow weight gain, please bring a record of the number of breastfeedings, bottle feedings, and supplement amounts along with the number of soiled and wet diapers.

Reviews

1. Erin came to our home and focused on helping us address latching difficulties due to flat nipples. She got down to business immediately. We accomplished quite a lot in an hour, and she left me feeling a lot more confident about trying to latch my baby without using a nipple shield, and about my ability to provide enough food for him. - Claire T

Reviews

1. Kim is truly dedicated to helping mothers and their babies. Kim took the time to provide me with extremely detailed information and coaching that began even before I gave birth! When I left the hospital with my newborn on a bottle, she was so patient and coached me through some of my most difficult postpartum days. She gave me the confidence and knowledge to succeed with breastfeeding as well as pumping advice as I returned to work. I would recommend Kim as a caring, knowledgeable, and supportive professional to any new mother and baby. - Laura H.

2. I struggled with breastfeeding and was actually about to quit until I met Kim. I reached out to Kim late at night and she immediately responded and spent 45 minutes with me assessing my sons latch while giving me tips over FaceTime. Kim was always there for me when I needed any help I will be forever thankful for her and because of her my son and I are almost 2 years and going strong of breastfeeding! - Sophie K.

3. Kim, is my hero! She stopped her family time to help our family in a crisis. I was not successful at breastfeeding and was in no position to help my daughter. The hospital where she gave birth gave little advice. I called Kim and she immediately called back. Via FaceTime Kim spent 45 min. observing, advising on positions, using pillows, encouraging and complimenting S. Follow-up phone calls were appreciated. 20 months later, she is still breastfeeding.

- Daphne K.

4. Kim was an incredible resource for my wife and I during one of the most trying times we have ever faced in our life. Our daughter was a fussy baby that would not latch, and this led to an incredible amount of anxiety and stress. Kim was extremely thoughtful in her communication and had the expertise that we desperately needed to help our daughter thrive. We owe so much to Kim and would highly recommend any family to use her services! - Kevin H.
